Step 0. Before starting

This website gives information about what an energy management system (EnMS) is. It describes the benefits, strengths, pitfalls and barriers to success. It also gives instructions on how to implement an energy management system.

Step 1. Get Started

Getting started: overview of EnMS, gap analysis recommendations, top management commitment, creating necessary documentation, dealing with common problems, and communication planning

Step 2. Build Commitment

This chapter describes the tenets of EnMS commitment: appointing the representative, forming the team, dealing with change management, defining the scope of the program, program policies, and developing the overal structure of EnMS for organization

Step 3. Develop your energy information and plans

Identifying legal and other requirements, acquiring and analyse energy data, determining significant energy uses, quantifying effects of relevnt variables on energy consumption, establishing energy baselines and performance indicators, identifying opportunities for improvement and people who may have an impact on energy consumption, establishing energy targets, and developing action plans

Step 4. Carry out routine operations

Routing operations overview: procurement, implementing the action plans, design, training and awareness, operational control

Step 5. Check that your EnMS is working effectively

Checking EnMS effectiviness: energy performance, EnMS, and the savings. How to do management review and which improvement tools to use
